Could You Be Our Next School Governor?
At Newlaithes Junior School, it is really important to us that the community is involved in shaping its local school. One of the best ways to do this is by having an established team of school governors who can offer real life experience and advice to help run our school effectively and in line with our values.
We believe that every student, whatever their background, has the right to flourish, to achieve and to succeed. Therefore, everything undertaken at Newlaithes Junior should have this ambition at its heart.
What do school governors do?
Governors are volunteers who work closely with schools to uphold high educational standards, safeguard students, and help to shape future developments. Being a governor also involves visits to the school, attending governing body meetings and includes training opportunities.
Governors can also contribute to the strategic direction of the school and be a critical friend by holding school leaders to account. Governors don’t get involved with the day-to-day running of the school but instead support leadership teams to drive school improvement. Most importantly, governors are passionate about ensuring that the children in their community have the best chances in life.
Governors are extremely beneficial for our school. Collectively they are representatives from within the community who possess a wide range of skills, perspectives, and talents, who can unite to make our school the best that it can be.
